Ashland bank robbery suspect arrested David Dean Johnson Thursday Mar 16, 2017 at 9:18 AM Mar 16, 2017 at 12:06 PM A man arrested hours after a Wednesday bank robbery in Ashland gave the teller a note warning her not to give him any "die" packs with the money, according to a police document. David Dean Johnson, 41, was apprehended without incident early Wednesday evening at his room at the Cedarwood Inn in Ashland, six hours after he allegedly passed a handwritten note at the Wells Fargo branch in downtown Ashland and demanded all of the money, according to Jackson County Circuit Court documents and Ashland police reports. After the teller complied with Johnson's demands at about 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, Johnson allegedly demanded money from the neighboring teller before fleeing on foot with $2,770, court documents show. It isn't known whether a weapon was involved. By early afternoon Wednesday, police had posted surveillance photos of the suspect on Facebook, and by 5:36 p.m., police had tracked him to his room at the motel in the 1800 block of Siskiyou Boulevard. Johnson faces two felony counts of third-degree robbery and a felony count of first-degree theft in the case, according to court records. He remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail Thursday afternoon without bail, according to jail records.
