--> --> Amity High revises costume for its mascot AMITY (AP) - Amity High School has revamped its mascot costume because the warrior's big nose might be considered offensive to American Indians. The school, located northwest of Salem, took the action after Smoke Signals, the newspaper of the Grande Ronde Tribe, published a story about how students and faculty felt about the mascot. "Students either said they didn't care or didn't feel like it was an issue. The administration was the same way," said Brent Merrill, the Smoke Signals editor. Amity Principal Henry Mahi said the article was fair and didn't indicate that his school was disrepectful. But it did get him thinking about what he could do to ensure the school was not offending anyone. Mahi thought of the mascot costume. Email your...
