The CAT awards celebration honored producers who gave back to the community. Submitted photo The program was hosted by Access Producers Irene Kai and Blue Star, and Access Producer Dennis Vickoren directed. Food for the evening was coordinated by Marilyn Moore and Creative Catering with donations of food from Bella Union, Shop-n-Kart, Rogue Valley Manor, Roosters, Rogue Community College Arts Program, Horton Plaza, Geppetto’s Restaurant, and Hungry Woodsman. Don Zastoupil designed and built the nine-foot cat statue used at the centerpiece on the stage for the ceremonies. Hot Pots in Medford got the Cat Statues for the award winners. Individuals receiving CAT Awards were (in order of presentation): Community Access Special Recognition Award: Kevin Talbert, who has been a wonderful support and asset to all departments at RVTV and retired earlier this year. Favorite One-Time Program: “Anything Weird,” Stacy Savage, producer Special Recognition Award: Lt. Tim George and Lt. Bob Hanson, who have a popular program on RVTV titled “Medford Police Department” and have been supporters of the station. James Ragland Award: David Bruce. The James Ragland Award is given to the producer who is a shining example of what a community access producer is — coming in and mentoring new producers and providing programs for the station to air.
