Gordon Smith and Ron Wyden: I urge you to filibuster and/or to vote against Judge Alito for a member of the Supreme Court. This country cannot afford another radically conservative justice on the highest court. His nomination would unbalance the court for years to come. I assure you that you would be well-representing your constituency and acting responsibly for future generations by taking this stand. Thank you for your attention to this important matter. Joyce Ward Ashland A justice needs to tell the truth It seems Mr. Alito is incapable of telling the truth about his past positions, many of which are extreme. I do not want a judge, a Supreme Court Justice, no less, who cannot tell the truth. Clifton Hebert Ashland The Tidings gives priority to letters on local and regional topics of current interest.
