For an annual fee of $125, members can make unlimited selections, space permitting, from among an average of 100 peer-taught courses offered in each of three academic quarters, September through June, and attend classes both in Ashland and Medford.  Membership signup can occur at any time during the year, but signing up now gives the enrollee a full year of benefits. There is no fee charged per course.  Registration for fall closes Friday, Aug. 7. A computerized lottery allocates courses where demand exceeds available seats. A late registration period for classes with available space starts Aug. 24 and continues throughout the fall term, which runs from Sept. 14 through Nov. 20. Fall classes include classes in art, dance, film, games, health, history, literature, music, personal development, science, technology and theater.  Last year almost 1,600 adults took OLLI classes. There are no tests or grades and no prior degree is required. Members establish connections with other curious minds, not just through class discussions but also by participating in OLLI operations and governance.  Membership fees are kept low through member donations and the generosity of the Bernard Osher Foundation. There is no official age restriction on membership, but the program is geared towards people 50-plus years old.  For more information about OLLI, including a complete list of the courses offered this fall and office locations, go to www.sou.edu/olli or call 541-552-6048.
