--> --> Dog park blues Eighteen months ago at the library, a meeting was held about improving the dog park. A committee was formed, plans were made, and a fundraiser was started. We were told that work would be done in September of 2000. The Parks Commission set aside $10,000 and $3,500 has been raised. In September 2000, Ed Perkins, William Chaffey, and I met with Mr. Mickelsen and his associate at the park, and they informed us that work would not be started as planned, but would be done in the spring. We were disappointed, but decided to hope for the best and took him at his word. By April, we were becoming concerned and at that time we were contacted by Tony Boom of the Mail Tribune and they did an article which appeared on April 30, 2001. Quoting from the article from Mr. Mickelsen: "We are committed to do it and will get the vast majority of work done this spring." As of this date, nothing major has been done. Over 50 people have donated money and time to this project and it is obvious that we have been ignored because we are on the bottom of the Park's list, even though the dog park is used every day of the year by many people and is the second most used park in this city.
