Our gifts are expressed uniquely by each of us. Recognition of this reality enhances one’s ability to live an extraordinary life. Looking at life from the perspective of making magic can open the door to consciously creating your life. Happiness is derived if choices are compatible with your unique desires, passions and needs.  Magical illusions can be considered symbolic of life, therefore many analogies can be made. Who is to say what is real and what is not? Could each of us be an entire universe to microscopic life, so small that our mind can’t comprehend? Is it possible that we humans are miniscule to the grand scheme of the universe?  One of the major differences between humans and animals is our gift of choice. We choose what kinds of illusions create the drama of our lives — whether we are aware of this or not. We co-create with the Universe. Unfortunately, we sometimes forget and blame others for bringing disharmony to our lives.  The art and science of creating illusions can evoke our imagination to expand the possibilities of our lives. As many great writers have expressed with various words: It is done to you, as you believe. Jesus was quoted as saying, “…the works that I do shall (you) do also, and greater works than these shall (you) do ....” How many of us have that much self-confidence? Quantum physics suggest the following: Everything in the universe is connected without separation. All solutions to every problem or issue already exists, whether we realize it or not. There is an implicit order of growth from birth to maturity. Scientists explore the depths of the ocean, continue to reach farther out into space and travel deeper into the microscopic. It seems that the scientific approach to understanding life keeps dissecting knowledge to eventually arrive at the conclusion that everything is connected. Interestingly, ancient wisdom included this concept in some of its schools of thought. Knowing that everything is connected can motivate the mind to find the solution it seeks. It helps us go beyond our current beliefs. Energy is the common denominator of our universe. Our thoughts are energy forms, which are used to create our reality. Today’s reality was created with yesterday’s thoughts. A magician creates his illusions in much the same way we create our life. However, the magician leaves little to happenstance. Many of us do not realize that our current reality is based on yesterday’s thoughts and actions. After attending many seminars by prominent magicians, I noticed that there was a wide range of philosophies regarding the methods of presentation, which illusions to present and how a magician should dress. In other words, magicians create performances based on their perspective, which is compatible with their self-concepts and ideas. Creating a magical illusion starts in mind with a concept or idea as a goal. In your life the illusion can be something you want or something you want to be. The first step is visualizing what you want to happen. Clarity of vision is important; if you can’t visualize what you want, you probably can’t create it. In addition, a clear vision helps to define the steps necessary to create the desired outcome. How to create your personal goal includes looking at what others have done. Books, classes and observation can give you the clues or information needed. At this point, your creative mind can fill in the blanks that uniquely fit you. Ultimately, the passions of your soul will call to you. After all, everything is connected one way or another. You can’t force answers to come, but with perseverance they seem to arrive at the right time. Our ability to conjure abstract and complex thoughts offers the opportunity to create reality from dreams. When we understand our true nature and how we connect to the universe, then we will only be limited by the size, content and texture of those dreams.
