Former Home Improvement Star Zachery Ty Bryan Sentenced to 19 Months in Oregon Prison After Probation Violations Crime & Courts By Diane Megaw On Mar 21, 2026 Former “Home Improvement” Star Zachery Ty Bryan was sentenced to 19 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections on Friday, after pleading guilty to a probation violation in Lane County court. Bryan has two domestic violence convictions against an Eugene woman from 2020 and 2023. Tidings Insight Oregon courts can revoke probation and send someone to prison for breaking supervision terms, even when the hearing is about the violation itself rather than a new trial. He was on probation until October for the 2023 conviction, and the conditions prohibited him from contacting the victim, leaving the area, without permission, consuming alcohol, or committing new crimes. Court documents indicate that Bryan was arrested five times across three states and violated every one of these probation terms. Bryan, who played the oldest son, Brad Taylor, in the sitcom for the entire run, appearing in 2023 episodes, appeared virtually from California, where he is currently serving a 16-month sentence for a DUII conviction.
