OREGON SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL Third meeting Thursday on festival brick courtyard Renovation project expected to begin in the fall Comment By Tidings staff report DailyTidings.com By Tidings staff report Posted Jan. 26, 2015 at 7:25 PM By Tidings staff report Posted Jan. 26, 2015 at 7:25 PM » RELATED CONTENT • New design for Bricks takes shape • Public weighs in on replacing The Bricks • Ashland couple gives Oregon Shakespeare Festival $1 million » Social News The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will hold its third public meeting to discuss the project to renovate the brick courtyard (the “Bricks”), the area outside the Angus Bowmer and Allen Elizabethan theatres, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 in Carpenter Hall. The goal of this meeting will be to review the preferred design direction that emerged from work with OSF staff and previous public meetings. Following the meeting, the design team will continue to refine the design and will delve into the more technical details of the project.  The design team for this project is led by the landscape architecture firm of Walker Macy, joined by THA Architecture, both based in Portland, Ore. The team was selected through a competitive bidding process, with submissions from several excellent architectural and landscape architectural firms from across the Pacific Northwest.  OSF executive director Cynthia Rider said, “We’re thrilled about the great team that Walker Macy has assembled to partner with us on this very important project. We’re really looking forward to engaging with our staff, board, patrons and the Ashland community to envision the future of the Bricks.”  The project has received significant lead funding from local residents Judy Shih and Joel Axelrod, who said, “The courtyard brings together the three OSF theaters. We hope this newly renovated community space will ignite more theatrical festivities like the Green Show, which attracts hundreds, making them even more accessible for all.” A community-wide fundraising campaign will give more residents and OSF patrons an opportunity to participate in the project.
