Stadium plan a bust, poll says A clear majority of Internet voters oppose a plan for a state-financed major league baseball stadium in Portland, likening it to financing folly, a Tidings poll shows. Three hundred seventy-nine people logged on to www.dailytidings.com this week to answer the question: "Should the Oregon Legislature pass a bill that would finance a $150 million major league baseball stadium for Portland?" Nearly 7 in 10 said no. Two hundred-sixty people or 69 percent chose the option, "No, totally frivolous." Seventy-one people or 19 percent picked "Yes, but let Portland finance it." Finally, 48 people or 13 percent made the call to "Play ball!" This week's poll question, posted Saturday, is: "Ashland residents of all legal voting ages will control the fate of the Youth Activities Levy. How old are you and what will you decide?" The Tidings weekly online poll is an unscientific measurement of public opinion and only reflects the views of those who choose to participate. Its sole purpose is to provide greater public input on a variety of issues.
