Trailing 44-28 with 13:27 remaining, Southern (8-15 overall, 7-9 Cascade Conference) used a 26-9 run spanning eight minutes to take a 54-53 lead on Candace Porter's inside jumper with five minutes left, and the Raiders took the lead for good at 56-54 on sophomore forward Nicholette Le Bel's putback 30 seconds later. ACI (8-13, 6-9) pulled within the final margin on junior forward Kasey Hooter's jumper with 1:39 left, but the Idaho school missed its final four shots, including Dani Cotterell's 3-pointer with 11 ticks left and Michelle Dyreng's 10-foot baseline jumper as time expired. Southern junior guard Camille Porter scored a game-high 28 points, including six 3-pointers, while freshman center Sara Beyer, playing in place of injured starters Emily Brough and Lindsey Aitchison, amassed 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Lindsey Hilaire scored 10 of her 12 points during the second-half surge, and dished out a game-high seven assists. The outcome was astonishing considering Albertson finished with a 49-31 rebounding edge, but after taking a 33-19 halftime lead, ACI missed 19 of 30 second-half shots while the Raiders converted at a 57-percent rate (17 of 30). Hooter collected 17 points and 17 rebounds for the Coyotes, and all-star guard Heidi Goicoechea amassed 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Southern, which leapfrogged ACI for seventh-place in the league standings, hosts 20th-ranked and league-leading Eastern Oregon tonight.
