Man faces DUII charge after overpass accident An Ashland woman remains in the hospital with serious injuries today, following a head-on collision with another car on the Highway 66 overpass at exit 14 of Interstate 5. The man who struck her, 42-year-old Curtis James Tron of Klamath Falls, was charged with DUII and third-degree assault on Tuesday. The 92-year-old woman was transported to Rogue Valley Medical Center with serious injuries, according to Ashland police officials. Hospital officials reported this morning she had been released from intensive care and was recuperating in a hospital room. The accident occurred at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday when Tron sideswiped the guardrail on the overpass, then swerved head-on into the Ashland woman's car, according to APD officials. Both drivers were transported to RVMC, Curtis with only minor injuries. The woman had more serious injuries, and had to be cut out of her totaled vehicle by Ashland Fire & Rescue members. Traffic on the overpass was halted for nearly 45 minutes while the scene was cleared, authorities said.
