Crater also won the boys title in a much more lopsided final margin. In the girls meet, Ashland junior Christine Impara placed second in 19 minutes, 51.1 seconds to lead three Grizzlies who finished the 5,000-meter race in the top 10. The second-place finish earned Ashland its first state meet berth since 2009. Monroe, a senior, won the meet easily in 18:22.8, while freshman teammate Elezebeth Allen finished sixth in 20:01.8 as Crater nipped Ashland in the final team standings, 39 points to 41. Also for the Ashland girls, sophomore Claire Pryor placed eighth in 20:05.2, freshman Hazel Richards ninth in 20:12.0, sophomore McKenzie Moore 11th in 20:46.0 and freshman Alexa Hague 15th in 21:24.0. Only each team’s top five placers figure into the final team scores. On the boys side, Crater placed first with 19 points followed by Marist (38) and Ashland (88). Four of the top five finishers hailed from Crater, including meet champion Walter Vail (15:35.9), a senior. Ashland’s top placer was senior Raymond Impara, who finished 12th in 16:27.3. Also for the Grizz boys, junior Cole Compeau placed 17th in 17:17.3, junior Jorge Sierra-Oldham 18th in 17:18.2, junior Christian Hill 20th in 17:21.8 and sophomore Lars Weston 26th in 17:55.8.
