I have attributed most of the disrespectful things that take place in Ashland to the exuberance of youth and new found ideas. But, the latest news is the proverbial "last straw." I will not excuse this latest vandalism of the flag holders in Ashland. Veteran's Day is a bipartisan holiday to celebrate the lives, sacrifices of our forefathers. Forefathers without whom these vandals would not have the chance to live in a safe, free America. I do not want to expose my 3-year-old son to such hate-filled attitudes. I do not feel safe or welcome in the town I went to college in for five years. I will be spending my time and my money elsewhere. Lynne Holley Grants Pass An open letter of apology Dear residents of Quiet Village and the city of Ashland: Last Saturday, Nov. 4, a group of us rudely disturbed the public by setting off illegal fireworks in your neighborhood. We apologize fully for what we have done and realize that it was inappropriate, immature, and illegal. We realize that we may have frightened people in the neighborhood and caused harm, for this we are utmost apologetic. Our behavior was completely out of hand and unacceptable. We had no intention of seriously harming or frightening anyone and yet we had the audacity to continue disturbing the public. We are rightfully to blame and we have come forward to show how truly sorry we are for our actions. We would also like to apologize to other Ashland High School students for putting an undeserved image on Ashland teens.
