I am so annoyed with the chorus of critics of Ralph Nader and his run for the presidency. If you're one of those critics, here's my message to you: You don't get it. Even if he had I wouldn't care if Ralph made Al Gore lose. I wouldn't care if he makes John Kerry lose. I don't agree with the policies, the politics, or the goals of George Bush, Al Gore or John Kerry. If you do, fine. But they are not my candidates and I don't want to vote for them. How hypocritical and, pardon my bluntness but you deserve it, idiotic of someone to claim they want to further democracy by excluding a candidate from an election. Al Gore and John Kerry may be facing a similar direction to the one I face, but they certainly have not through their words or actions shown that they have the strength or burning desire to walk in that direction. They are not, simply because you would put them under a massive and misleading umbrella of "the left," leaders of my team, even though I would define myself as being on "the left." I, we, don't want your umbrella. We also don't want your Clinton-reduxes, your wishy-washy, follow-the polls, complete-lack-of-stones-to-actually-be-a-leader-and-break-new-ground cowards. You can have them and their continuation of government of the money, by the money, and for the money. We don't want them, and we are not afraid to spoil a party that we don't even want an invitation to. We want a true humanitarian, a truly generous person who has proven that generosity over the course of a lifetime; a true leader who through that lifetime has shown the will, the courage, and the endurance that is mandatory to begin a course toward national and international policies that we can honestly be humbled by and proud of. Whether or not that person is "electable," the word for the brain-dead of the day (What does it mean? Is he like George Bush? He turned out to be "electable") is up to you. Ralph Nader is a naturally-born citizen of the U.S., he is over the age of 35, and has been a U.S. resident for at least 14 years-that means he can run for president. I am very thankful for that. When I vote for him, I may vote for a candidate who will lose, but I will not have lost sight of my goals, and I will not have sacrificed my beliefs for an obviously false, feel good solution. If you vote for John Kerry or any "lesser of two evils" candidate," win or lose, you will already have lost something.
