--> --> Charter to run for judgeship Ashland Daily Tidings Joseph M. Charter has announced his bid for Circuit Court Judge of Jackson County, opposing Bill Purdy in the nonpartisan May 21, 2002 election. "I believe that I can make a positive contribution to the bench and bar and provide leadership for the new millennium," Charter said in a prepared statement. "Both the bench and the bar have benefited from a very cooperative working relationship in the past several years. I want to continue that trend. I believe that the bar can help to increase security while we await the expansion of our existing facilities." Charter is currently the president of the Jackson County Bar Association and has served on the association's executive committee since 1997. He has also mediated divorce cases as a private mediator and also acted as a volunteer mediator for small claims court cases. "I have represented both plaintiffs and defendants, employers and employees, and victims of discrimination and drunk drivers," Charter said in his statement. "I know that every litigant is entitled to have their day in court before an unbiased decision maker." Email your...
