Submitted photo Police on alert for missing family Four adults, two children left on a short trip to the coast and haven’t been seen in a week By Robert Plain Ashland Daily Tidings A family that left Ashland last Saturday for a weekend on the coast still has not returned, prompting Ashland police to issue an all points bulletin to other departments trying to locate them. “Maybe they just don’t want to be here anymore,” Ashland police officer Steve MacLennan said. “Maybe they’re stuck in the snow somewhere.” Marlo Hill-Stivers, Peter Stivers, their two children Sabastyan, age 10, and Gabrayell, 9, and Stivers’ mom, Becky Higgenbothum and her husband Elbert Higgenbothum have been missing now, according to Hill-Stivers mother, Rose Hill, for seven days now. Hill said her daughter told her she would be home by Sunday night. Both Hill-Stivers and Stivers were scheduled to work on Monday and both kids were supposed to be in school. Hill-Stivers works at DJ’s Video, according to Hill, and Stivers works at 7-11, she said. “I know my daughter,” Hill said. “She would not just take off.” They left in a 35-foot dolphin motor home with Arizona plates, where Stivers parents are from. They had been visiting their grandchildren in Ashland and decided to take a weekend vacation to “the coast.” Neither Hill nor police knew where on the coast they were headed to. “They very well could be on the coast having a good time,” APD Sgt. Malcus Williams said. “But we don’t know that. What’s suspicious is that they didn’t let their work places know they were going to miss work. It seems a little out of the norm.” Hill said she believes the RV they were traveling in has gotten stuck and her daughter is unable to call on her cell phone, which Hill said she had with her. “She’s probably out of range,” Hill said. She added that her Hill-Stivers just recently moved from Arizona and doesn’t know Southern Oregon very well. “They probably pulled onto a dirt road somewhere and got stuck,” she said. “I’m trying to believe the best.” Staff writer Robert Plain can be reached at 482-3456 x 226 or [email protected].
