Furnished photo Thursday Dec 29, 2016 at 8:57 PM Local report ScienceWorks Museum hosts its fourth annual Noon Year’s Eve Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 31, offering an event for those New Year’s revelers who love to party but don’t want to stay up late. The day of programming for families runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a countdown to the New Year and balloon drop at high noon (instead of the stroke of midnight), highlighted by the drop of more than 1,000 balloons. Rather than the traditional ball drop, ScienceWorks will hold an egg drop challenge. Participants design a container to hold and protect their precious cargo, a raw egg, from a drop of 20 feet. Drops will happen at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. ScienceWorks will provide construction materials. Guests will also get to make their own party hats and noise makers and participate in a sparkling cider toast to ring in 2017. Following the balloon drop at noon, guests can dance the afternoon away until 2 p.m. when the museum closes. Admission to "Noon Year’s Eve" is $5 per member, $10 per non-member and $30 for families. Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.scienceworksmuseum.org/nye, and at the door. The museum is at 1500 E. Main St., Ashland.
