They hope to raise awareness of actions they say are necessary to regain local control of our lands, skies, crops, water, forests, health “and other systems in harm's way.” Two skits will be presented several times during the afternoon: "The Bees Knees" by local writer Archie Koenig, and "You Are What You Eat" with Rael & Friends. There will be live music and a variety of speakers, including Jason Gallagher of the Historic Ashland Armory, Richard Heller of the Bellview Grange and director of Theatre Convivio, Chamber of Commons founder Catie Faryl, and a keynote Address at 2 p.m. by Ashland City Councilor Carol Voisin. Participating groups include the Sierra Club, Bellview Grange, Families for Food Freedom, Blue Skies Project, Moms Across America, Red Earth Descendants, Jobs with Justice, The Pollinator Project, 15 Now, Move to Amend, Jackson County Fuel Committee, Pachamama Alliance, Chamber of Commons and others. The event opens with a music and prayer ceremony by Donna B and ends with closing comments by Danny Gregg and other event organizers.
