"Rent" tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive in New York City's Alphabet City under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. Performances will be at 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 15-17, Monday, Jan. 19, and Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23-24, in the Oak Street Dance Studio, 1287 Oak St., Ashland. Translated to English, the CD's title means "joyful sound." Guy, on nylon-stringed guitar, and Powers, on gypsy violin, will be joined by bassist John Galloway and percussionist Mike Fitch. The CD will be available at the show, online at charlesguymusic.com or at CD Baby. Admission to the show is free.
