Youth Programs begin on April 9 Ashland Daily Tidings The Spring 2001 Southern Oregon University Youth Programs for students in grades K-12 begins in April. Located in Ashland and Medford, the classes run on a variety of dates and times through May, including after school, during evenings and on the weekends. They begin April 9. Classes are offered for youth in art, computers, creative writing, foreign language, history, performing arts, science and sports and recreation. Classes include: "Calligraphy," "Symmetry and Geometry in Art," "Spin Your Way into Cyberspace," "Beginning Japanese," "Stone Age Tools and Weapons," "Bolts and Jolts," "Beginning/Intermediate Golf," "Outdoor Survival and Orienteering," and "SCUBA and Snorkel Fun." Each class has a registration fee based on the number and duration of class meetings, including the need for special materials. Financial assistance is available based on a sliding scale.
