He passed away April 20, 2015 in Redmond, Wash. Bill served as a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hopkins , a destroyer minesweeper, during World War II. His tour of duty in the Pacific extended from the Philippines, to Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, and his ship helped clear the mines from Tokyo Bay at the end of the war. After his return home he married Betty (Bett) Stienbarger. He became a Carpenter and worked in the building trades for 40 years. He moved his family to the Rogue Valley in 1964. After retirement he and his wife Bett traveled, and spent several years enjoying winters in Arizona. He recently moved from Medford, Ore. to Redmond, Wash. Bill is survived by his wife, Bett Huett of Redmond; son, Jim Huett; daughter, Judy Huett-Harris; and four grandchildren, Anna Sturdivant, Jake Harris, Hannah Huett, and Wade Huett. Interment at the Eagle Point National Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date.
