Barleen, the Grizzlies’ highest placer over the weekend, crossed the finish line in 16 minutes, 18.3 seconds to lead three Ashland High boys who finished in the top 30. For the girls, Aria Hemphill took 15th in 19:42.2 in the Puma Invite, while Haley Beal was 21st and Alyssa Taylor 29th. The Ashland girls also performed well in the Chieftain Invite, ending up behind only Crater and Hidden Valley in the final team standings despite competing without top distance runner Natalie Hemphill. Victoria Mayfield led the Grizzlies with a 12th-place finish (21:19), while Chelsey Boehnke was 13th (21:34) and Jordan Kling 17th (21:53). The Grizz girls also received strong performances by 18th-place Hannah Clark (21:54), 20th-place Savannah Julian (22:02) and 21st-place Micaela Bishop (22:04). For the boys, Ryland Karlovich finished 20th in 18:00, while Josh Baker was 26th in 18:17.
