The Essence of Lennon "The Essence of Lennon", featuring the words and music of former Beatle John Lennon will be performed from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, February 9, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak Street. Ashland musician Dave Marston has adapted Lennon's poignant and often witty spoken words and combined them with 22 great songs from the Beatles' and Lennon's solo career. The songs are performed by Marston and his band, The Nowhere Men. Lennon's compelling discourses on world peace, loving human relationships, success, feminism and the death of his mother create a moving and powerful tribute to one of the most creative minds of the 20th century. The Nowhere Men have been frequent performers in the area for the last two years, giving concerts at the Craterian Theater, The Rogue Valley Youth Correctional Facility in Grants Pass, the Old Siskiyou Barn in Ashland and outdoor concerts in the parks series in Medford, Grants Pass and Yreka. The band specializes in music of The Beatles and consists of founder, singer and guitar/keyboard player Dave Marston; David Gabriel, vocals and drums; Brent Norton, lead guitar and vocals; and Joe Cohoon, bass guitar. Tickets are $10. For more information, call 488-0890 or log onto www.unityinashland.org. LINKS: REVELS: Main | Calendar | Dining | Movies | T.V.
