An emergency "drop in" warming center is open Wednesday, Feb. 26, at First United Methodist Church, 175 N. Main St., Ashland. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and close at 9:30 p.m. Guests may stay until 7 a.m. Children and pets are welcome. Sleeping is allowed. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. There is a possibility of snow, with accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible, with a low of 26 degrees expected. Thursday morning is expected to warm up with a high near 42 degrees. To find out when the shelters are available, the public can check the Ashland Tidings online, the bulletin board on the Plaza and the wooden post in front of Pioneer Hall. Volunteers and resources are needed to: Help provide dinner and breakfast for about 20 people Help with the registration table from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Clean up from 7 to 8 a.m. Email Phil Johncock, shelter consultant, at [email protected] or text his cellphone at 702-518-8756 for more information or to volunteer.
