--> --> Head to the slopes Ashland Daily Tidings It's official: the Mt. Ashland Ski Area opens Friday. The ski area had 45 inches of snow at the ski lodge this morning and around 50 inches at the top of the Ariel chairlift, said Gene Landsmann, Ski Ashland marketing director. "It feels wonderful," he said. "We still remember last year with its (snowfall) shortages. Those are to be expected once or twice a decade, but we're glad it's a new year. It's just really exciting to be opening up again." Skiers and snowboarders are urged to check the Mt. Ashland Web site for daily updates, Landsmann said. The site, www.mtashland.com, includes links to ski conditions, road conditions and weather forecasts. The access road to the ski area has been plowed, Landsmann said. All-day lift tickets start at $29 for adults and $22 for seniors. Other rates are available for half-day skiing or beginner chairlift skiing, among other packages. Runs open at 9 a.m. The Mt.
