TUESDAY December 16, 2003 - Subscribe - Contact Us Valley&State Backpage O&E Sports Archives Classifieds Faith&Beliefs Obituaries Revels Billy Samuel Fagan The graveside service for Billy Samuel Fagan will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. Mr. Fagan, 75, of Talent, died Friday, October 3, 2003 near Howard Prairie Lake. He was born July 5, 1928 at Crandall, Mississippi to Verna and Elmo Fagan. He graduated from high school in 1947 at Bly, Oregon and moved with his family to Ashland in 1949. He has lived in the Ashland- Talent area since that time. On September 30, 1950 in Reno, Nevada he married the former Fern Herrin who survives. Mr. Fagan worked in the lumber industry, for the railroad and drove trucks. He pulled green chain for Fruit Growers Supply in Hilt until they closed in 1973. After pulling green chain for 17 years he returned to truck-driving for McGrew Brothers in Ashland until they closed, then drove for G.M.W. From 1982 until his retirement in 2001, he worked in the logging industry. In addition to his wife, Fern, he is survived by his son, William Fagan of Klamath Falls, Ore.; two daughters, SuAnne Fowler of Colville, Calif. and Donna Fagan of Jacksonville, Ore.; one brother, Eldon Fagan of Medford; two sisters, Annie Patzke of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Nan Franklin of Oakland, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dianne Fagan in 1953. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland. Skyla Dawn Ozzello Skyla Dawn Ozzello died Sept. 23 in Medford, Ore. from a bacterial infection. She was born Dec. 28,1975 in Eugene, where she lived for ten years. She and her twin sister Sara were inseparable during those years. Skyla moved with her family to Silver City, N.M. in 1985 where she made many friends and helped her parents run their video store. Skyla met her husband Shawn three years ago and they were married two years later. In the fall of 2002, they moved to Ashland, Oregon and enjoyed activities such as walks in Lithia Park together. Skyla was soul-mate to Shawn, twin sister, big sister, daughter, niece, granddaughter, daughter-in-law, aunt and friend. On Sept. 17, 2003 she became mother to a beautiful daughter named Stephanie. Lyda E. Martin The funeral for Lyda E. Martin will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. Officiating will be Pastor Rod Howell of the Central Neighborhood Church, Phoenix. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland. Mrs. Martin, 86, of Phoenix, died Friday, October 3, 2003 at home. She was born June 2, 1917, at Derby, Ore. the daughter of Edwin and Lorena Koenig. She was raised and attended schools in Derby and Reese Creek, Ore. In 1933 at Reese Creek she married Vernon J. Haynes who preceded her in death. On April 14, 1973 at Griffin Creek, Ore. she married Archibald Martin who survives. Mrs. Martin drove school bus in the Medford School System for many years. She was an artist, wood carver, and enjoyed handwork. She was active in many outdoor sports and enjoyed swimming and spending time with family. Surviving in addition to her husband are: two sons, Vernon M. Haynes of Chandler, Ariz. and Donnell R. Haynes of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters Lorena Ann Bennett of Central Point, Ore. and Patricia Carol Sakraida of Williams, Ore.; one step daughter Glennora J. Arnold of Phoenix, Ore.; one half-brother David Robertson of Central Point, Ore.; one sister Bette Ziegler of Roseburg; seventeen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one step-son and one brother. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice, Rogue Valley Foundation, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.
