Southern Oregon had little trouble getting past the Mountaineers in the first two games thanks to solid all-around play. The Mountaineers got within 19-22 in the third game before the Raiders closed them out. "We can't wait until the third game and then decide to play," said Eastern Oregon coach Kaki McLean. "We have to want to play from the very beginning, and that wasn't there tonight. We had momentum in the third game, but it was too late. We can't afford to be down 10 points and then expect to come back on a team like Southern." Four Raiders had at least seven kills and the team had a .267 attacking percentage compared to EOU's .040. Jana Brotherton led the Mountaineers with 12 kills, while Grace Deboodt and Keri Brown added eight and seven, respectively. Chelsea Lally and Kiley Cobb had 13 digs apiece, while Jenna Elliott had 32 assists. Soccer CONCORDIA 4, SOUTHERN OREGON 0 — At Portland, Concordia recorded its ninth shutout of the season in the Cascade Conference match. The Cavaliers tallied 21 shots to one for the Raiders and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Concordia improved to 11-1-1 overall, 5-0 in the conference, while Southern Oregon dropped to 4-8 overall, 1-4 in league. "This was a good conference win," said Concordia coach Grant Landy. "Southern Oregon came out strong, but we got two quality goals to stymie their momentum." Justine Pronovost scored the first Cavalier goal at 19:29 of the first half. Her shot from 18 yards out from the right side hit the crossbar and went in. Jennifer Hughes assisted on the goal. Hughes made it 2-0 at the 33:47 mark of the opening half. After receiving a pass from Haley Jones, Hughes worked past a defender, and her shot from 15 yards out found the right corner of the net. Breeanne Barker scored at 78:16 of the second half for a 3-0 Concordia lead. On a give-and-go play, Barker passed to Caitlin Verhofstadt, whose return pass found Barker near the left post to set up the goal. Shea Miller scored the final Cavalier goal at 82:40. A shot by Stephanie Solarek hit the post and bounced out to Miller, who converted from about 10 yards out. "The second half was one of our best (this season) in terms of connecting and creating chances," Landy said. Lela Mansfield recorded her third shutout of the season in goal for Concordia. Southern Oregon did not have a shot on goal in the game.
