--> --> Parking at Redmond airport to reopen REDMOND - A large section of Redmond airport's parking lot that was closed following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks will reopen Tuesday. An armed police officer will check all cars and trucks for suspicious packages before vehicles can park, officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration restricted parking at airports within a 300-foot radius of the terminal after the attacks Sept. 11. The guidelines closed a major portion of the small parking lot, about 300 parking spots, at Roberts Field Redmond Municipal Airport. Airport Manager Carrie Novick said she asked the FAA to waive the restrictions several weeks ago. The request was approved Friday. The Redmond Police Department hired six former and retired police officers to patrol the parking area between 3 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily, said Chief Lane Roberts. Email your...
