Ski Ashland is continuing to promote expansion into the pristine Middle Branch drainage in the headwaters of Ashland's municipal watershed. This forested watershed provides habitat for endangered species and clean water for the citizens of Ashland. As an organization, we understand the importance of investing in small, locally owned businesses. We also understand the power of not investing in those businesses that are not environmentally conscious and promote the destruction of untouched wild places. The Mt. Ashland Association has shown a complete unwillingness to discuss, compromise or act in a civil manner through mediation. The time for an economic boycott is now. Demand protection of the Middle Branch of the East Fork of Ashland Creek. Please use the money you save from downhill skiing to support some of our fine locally owned businesses and the Ashland Schools Foundation. Eric Navickas Tracy Bungay Ashland Not everyone is OK with Bush's blatant untruths President Bush said, with no hint of shame, "We've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved in September the 11th." There is no evidence that Iraq "planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001." Condoleezza Rice said, "We never claimed that Suddam Hussein had either ... direction or control of 9/11." Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said, "I've not seen any indication that would lead me to believe I could say that Saddam Hussein was tied to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001." Colin Powell warned of the "sinister nexus between Iraq and the Al Queda terrorist network." Bush and his cabal were so confident that America was thoroughly enough brainwashed that they could now admit their lies knowing that their admissions will never see the light of day. Pitiably, Americans believe Bush so thoroughly that 69 percent still find it likely that Saddam was "personally involved" in the Sept. 11 carnage. It is equally distasteful that the admissions of these conspirators have not gotten any meaningful national coverage. According to the trade publication Editor & Publisher, of the 12 largest-circulation daily papers, three ran a story about Bush's admission on the front page and seven ran stories inside (the New York Post and the Wall Street Journal didn't mention Bush's statement at all). Aware of the collusion of the administration between the entire media, TV, newspapers, etc., however, it does not come as much of a surprise. But, hundreds of young men continue to die and experience horrible wounds to perpetuate their carefully constructed, brazen lies. Bush's war - the invasion - was based on no principles whatsoever. I therefore ask of the Daily Tidings to conduct a poll to determine if we in Ashland are among the 69 percent who stubbornly hold to the lie that Saddam is linked to the 9/11 carnage.
