A celebration of the swing dance and music movement from the 1930s to today, the production is a collaboration between the Craterian Performances and Independent-Minded Productions. Richard Jessup, producer and director of Independent-Minded Productions, is the co-producer/choreographer of the show. Assistant choreographer is Penny King. Unlike traditional musical reviews, several musicians get involved in the action. Singer Tricia Leines performs her solo, "Cry Me a River," with trombonist Mark Jacobs. In the "Harlem Nocturne" number, singer/dancer Lindsay Lawson has an on-stage moment with bass player Bruce McKern. The show's musical director and conductor is Eric Nordin. The music itself is timeless, penned by the likes of Johnny Mercer, Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman. The quartet of singers includes Leines, Adam Cuppy, Priscilla Quinby and Keith Fuller. The 12 dancers, six of whom also sing, include: Zach Bandler, Lindsay Lawson, Aletta Mannix, Trever Yarrish, Brandon Saunders and Angela Ryskiewicz. They will be performing Broadway-style interpretations. Specialty dancers will be performing true swing steps with dance couples Jerry and Michelle Slaughter, Jack and Sheila Berard and Noah Lindsay and Laurie Hobson. With more than 30 dance numbers, every type of swing step is represented as the show chronicles the movement's history up to modern times. The dancers and singers will be accompanied by an eight-piece neo-Swing band featuring Nordin, Jacobs, McKern, DiTrolio, Daryl Fjeldheim, Bruce Dresser, Steve Daggett, Kevin McKern and Randy Magallanes. Bonnie Vera designed the costumes, Brad Nelson the lighting and Nan Knights the sets. Production manager is Jo Yarrish and the stage manager is Holly Weber-Neimark. Tickets for the show are $30, $27, and $24 for adults and $23, $20, and $17 for youth (0-18). Following the performance will be a New Years party with dancing on-stage to the music of the live band from "Swing!" Tickets to the party are $25 for show patrons only. Call 779-3000.
