Submitted photo The Jefferson State Choral Coalition will present two performances of their concert, “We Sing!” Saturday, Dec. 3 in the SOU Music Recital Hall. Due to sold out concerts last year, a 3 p.m. matinee has been added before the regular 8 p.m. concert. This 50 person university/community ensemble will offer a mixed brew of American popular music: standards, blues, ballads, 40s swing, 50s-70s rock, gospel, a men’s feature cowboy song, movie themes and some uniquely arranged holiday tunes, with lots of vocal soloists. The choir will be backed up by some of the best instrumentalists from the state of Jefferson. The group is directed by Kirby Shaw, who has gained an international reputation as a master choral teacher/composer/arranger and performer. Tickets are $8 general, $6 seniors. They may be purchased at the Music Department two weeks prior to the concert, or reserved earlier with a VISA or MasterCard. Students with ID may attend at no charge.
