Eduardo Cortes Magana, 44, of Mexico, is in critical condition at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, hospital officials said. There is a chance he will be transferred to Oregon Health & Science University, officials said. The crash happened just before 11 a.m., according to emergency dispatch logs. OSP said Cortes was driving southbound on I-5 between mileposts 10 and 11 at about 70 mph when he slammed his 2015 silver BMW motorcycle into the back of a semi driven by 31-year-old Parajmot Singh Sangha of British Columbia, who was traveling at about 35 mph in the slow lane. "(Magana) rode directly into the center of the trailer ... and sustained life-threatening injuries," an OSP report said. Sangha was not injured in the crash. OSP, Ashland Fire & Rescue and Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the scene. Responders closed the slow lane for about 45 minutes during initial medical treatment and cleanup, causing traffic to slow to a crawl and back up past exit 11 to the north.
