The council, which meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Talent Community Center, 204 E. Main St., will decide whether properties at 104 and 106 Suncrest Road should be annexed into the city. The parcels are an island of unincorporated land surrounded by the city. One property owner asked that his property be added to the index of city lands; the second property owner will be given five years to complete the transition into city limits, including connecting to the city water service. Landowners also asked the 0.80 acres of land be rezoned from rural residential to high-density residential. Councilors will also discuss an amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan to change 7.58 acres of commercial land to high-density residential at the 200 block of Highway 99. The land is a portion of a proposed 10-acre mixed-use development that will include commercial frontage along the highway that fades into duplexes and single-family homes. The Talent Planning Commission recommended the city council approve the annexation and both rezoning proposals. The city council will also consider appointing Chuck Nagel, a former planning commissioner, to the Parks and Recreation Commission and accept monthly reports from the public works department and the city business manager.
