SOU volleyball secures bid in championship match tonight PORTLAND - The Southern Oregon University volleyball team landed a spot in today's Cascade Conference tournament championship and clinched the school's third consecutive berth to the six-team NAIA Region I tournament by downing Albertson College in straight games on the Concordia University campus Friday. Nov. 9: Playoffs on the line for Raiders For the second time in three years, the Southern Oregon University football team enters the final week of the regular season with a berth to the NAIA playoffs well within reach. Nov. 8: Raider vets open up wrestling season with a win over rookies The Southern Oregon University wrestling team raised the 2001 NAIA championship banner onto the McNeal Pavilion wall and then got after it as the veteran-laden Black team won the 32nd annual Red and Black intrasquad dual, 44-28, Wednesday night. Nov. 8: Correction In this week's U pick 'em football contest in Tuesday's Tidings, the next to last game listed should be Steelers at Browns. Nov. 7: SOU bids to host playoff game Southern Oregon University athletic director Phil Pifer has vowed to do all he can to make sure the Raider football team plays as many home playoff games as possible. Nov. 6: Raider grapplers to raise banner The raising of the 2001 NAIA national championship banner will kick off the Southern Oregon University wrestling program's annual Red and Black intrasquad Wednesday night at McNeal Pavilion. Nov. 5: SOU netters wrap up No. 2 slot at tourney It was a bitter sweet victory for the Southern Oregon University volleyball team which clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Cascade Conference tournament with a 30-22, 21-30, 30-24, 30-23 triumph over Evergreen State at McNeal Pavilion Saturday night, but also said goodbye to three seniors.
