Controlled burn planned for Tuesday Tuesday Dec 20, 2016 at 2:00 AM Dec 20, 2016 at 7:41 PM The Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project (AFR) plans to conduct a controlled burn on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Ten to 15 acres of slash piles could be ignited off Neil Creek Road. Smoke will be visible from the Interstate 5 freeway. All roads and trails remain open. A new interactive AFR Controlled Burn Map is now available online at www.ashlandwatershed.org. The map shows where burning is taking place each day in relation to town, roads, and trails. Updated air quality readings for Ashland are available at www.deq.state.or.us/aqi/index.aspx. The controlled burns are intended to help protect the community from wildfire.
