--> --> Takes issue with editorial on bike lanes I write to take issue with the recommendation, in your editorial, that bike lanes do not belong in the downtown shopping district . As a member of the committee considering all options for the Downtown Plan Phase 2, I find your statements misleading and premature. You are effectively saying that safe bicycle travel to or through downtown is not important, without giving the team- assembled to design a win-win situation for all users- a chance to complete its work. There are many creative options being considered that honor other modes of travel. There is also great effort being taken to consider the needs of delivery trucks. Please do not perpetuate the myth that people do not use bikes to shop. My family and I do, as do others we know. Many others would, I believe, if it were safe. There currently is no safe way for us to ride downtown. Please allow the process to work.
