What really grabbed my attention was the fact that Sue Kupillas is one of the participants. In my opinion, this is strictly "Political Posturing" in an election year. Sue proved with her DEQ vote that she is "NO" friend of business or our unemployed. The taxpayers' money that she has helped shove towards White City is staggering with basically nothing to show for it except for some street paving and with little or NO hope of ever providing any jobs. Maybe they can rename Antelope Road as "Sue Kupillas Boulevard" and have Sue retire and move out there. I think that the voters will decide that "Waffling Sue" has done enough damage to their pocket books and speed up her retirement. She is not representing the majority of the people in this County, and everything she does now is strictly for political show. Don't buy it, and remember it when you go to the polls. Don Rist Talent Internet offers a different look Anyone who has access to a computer and uses it for finding out what is going on in the world, can get a vastly different picture of events and politics than is available on TV and commercial radio and press. The access to uncensored news over the internet can often be enlightening, shocking and distressing, especially when one sees an entirely different picture being painted by corporate controlled media on TV, radio and in print. That the Bush administration had ample warning of the terrorist attacks on 9/11 is a good example of this free flow of information which is heavily suppressed and ignored in the mainstream media. The corporations who support keeping the public in the dark about such important issues are the very same corporations who have huge contracts and dollars at stake by building weapons, armaments, medical equipment or in some way benefit by war making. Human beings have a conscience and can change their minds when given the information that shows them a better way. Corporations, on the other hand, do not have a "soul" or "conscience" because they are an entity with a life and momentum of their own---even though they are made up of human investors. It is very hard (if not impossible) for corporations to change their path since the goal of corporations is driven by profits---not conscience. With the advent of the computer age and free flowing information, corporations (and the politicians who are their mouthpiece) are under increasing scrutiny and pressure by a growing population of people who are no longer duped by false, misleading or depressing news. Computers, fax machines and cameras are tools with the potential for ushering in a new democracy (in this country and abroad) which holds corporations and their politicians accountable for their actions. Randy Bofinger Mt Shasta, Calif. Strong backs, power splitter needed soon For many years the Jackson County Fuel Committee has collected and distributed free firewood to low income families. Winter is not over. Through the generosity of many people, a lot of wood has been collected, but much of it is in "rounds" which must be split to be used. If you have a power splitter and are willing to split some wood for us, you will be a local hero. If you will split some rounds with a maul and wedges you might get your picture in the Daily Tidings as a local "hunk," male or female. If you deliver a load of wood to a needy family, you get bonus points toward fulfilling your personal identity. By now I think you get the idea. JCFC has wood and needs your help. Some of our neighbors need our help. Please be a helper. Randy Jones, the long-time JCFC manager will coordinate your efforts. Call him at 488-2905.
