Internet voters support activities levy by narrow margin Most Internet voters plan to vote in favor of the proposed Youth Activities Levy which will be placed on the ballot for the May 20 special election - but just barely. In neck-and-neck voting, 392 people logged on to www.dailytidings.com this week to answer the question: "The Ashland City Council approved the Youth Activities Levy, placing it on the ballot for the May 20 special election. How will you vote?" The majority of voters, 202 or 52 percent, indicated they would support the levy, but a nearly equal number, 181 or 46 percent are firm in their opposition of a city tax hike to help partially bail out Ashland schools. The voting indicated a lot of minds are firmly made up. Only 9 voters, or 2 percent were undecided. This week's poll question, posted Saturday, is: "There are rumblings of changing the Oregon law prohibiting customers pumping their own gas. How do you feel?" The Tidings weekly online poll is an unscientific measurement of public opinion and only reflects the views of those who choose to participate. Its sole purpose is to provide greater public input on a variety of issues.
