Lindsay Warren won the girls' giant slalom on Friday and finished in second in the slalom on Saturday to lead the Grizzlies. Warren was 4.08 seconds behind Annaliesa Harris of Saint Mary's in the slalom event. Camila Thorndike and Jessica Williams finished second and third in the giant slalom to complete the Grizz sweep with Williams. Christy Hald was third in the slalom for Ashland. Maddy Stokes and Hannah Spector also had top-10 showings in both races to boost the Grizzlies into first place in league competition. The Grizz boys hold third place in the conference. The Ashland boys, along with the Saint Mary's and Lakeview boys' downhill ski teams, each have 12 points in league competition. Saint Mary's, with a total team time of 10:07.17, has the first-place position. Ashland trails Saint Mary's by less than 10 seconds, sporting a team time of 10:17.12. Justin Greenburg earned the highest finish for the Grizzlies boys' team when he nabbed third place behind Josh Jones of Saint Mary's and Ryan Nash of Lakeview in the giant slalom on Friday. Ben Helm-Graton and Daniel Armitage came in fifth and sixth in the event for the Grizz. On Saturday, Nick David was fourth in the slalom to lead Ashland. Greenburg hung close to David, finishing fifth out of the 30 prep skiers. The two weekend races mark the opening of league competition for the Grizz downhill ski teams. Ashland will compete four more times over the course of two weekends. The next Grizz ski races will be January 30 and 31.
