SOU hosts health insurance enrollment Tuesday Dec 6, 2016 at 1:15 PM Local report Students at Southern Oregon University and local residents alike can sign up for health insurance during an enrollment event that will include free in-person help with the application process. The event, which is open to students and residents of Jackson County, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, in the foyer of Stevenson Union at Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland. The Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace is hosting the enrollment fair in partnership with the university. The event arrives as open enrollment — for those who buy plans on their own because they do not have coverage through their employer — runs through Jan. 31. Attendees should bring the following household information: Social Security numbers and birth dates, immigration documentation, employer and income information, federal tax information and policy numbers and plan names for current insurance. "These enrollment events are all about connecting people to the information they need, helping them understand their options, and signing them up for the plan that best suits them," Natasha Egoroff, outreach and education coordinator for the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace, said in a release. The Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace offers general information for consumers through a local service center, which can be reached by calling 855-268-3767 (toll-free) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by email at [email protected].
