McGregor was born to Walter E. Church and Bernice McGregor Church on August 29, 1929 in Portland Oregon. He graduated from Stanford 1n 1951 and from University of Oregon Medical School in 1956. He married Linda Brown in 1950 with whom he had 5 children. He married Diane McPhail in 1972. After Diane's death, he married Catharine Foyston in 1976. Catharine was the love of his life and brought him joy to the end of his days. He retired as a Colonel from the USAF after serving since 1957 in active service and the Oregon Air National Guard. When he was stationed in Bitburg, Germany he and Catharine traveled extensively throughout Europe. Mac was a man of keen intellect and deep compassion, a man who loved God and neighbor, a healer and lover of life. His interests were broad and deep. He loved to fly all types of aircraft, travel was a joy for him, and he was a sharpshooter (of both guns and photographs) and a connoisseur of fine wine. His faith was very deep. He was active in the Episcopal Church where he served as an Eucharistic Minister, Stewardship Chair, a member of the vestry, Campus Ministry, and on diocesan boards. He was a member of Kiwanis and The American Legion. Mac was the patriarch of a large and extended family of 12 children and stepchildren. Mac died, surrounded by his loving family, on July 25th at Providence Medical Center in Medford. He is survived by his beloved wife Catharine, his children McGregor (Sarva-drk das), Susan, Catherine, Robin, Charles, John, Christopher, Lise, Alex, Kathy, Jamie, and Meaghan and their spouses; 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A memorial service in thanksgiving for the life of Dr. McGregor L. Church will be held on Thursday July 29, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church Outreach Fund. Rosemary A.
