The win improved Ashland to 24-5 overall and 4-0 in the SSC, while the Comets fell to 3-2 in league play, tied with Eagle Point for second place. Ashland's Ruby Stocking had 10 kills, 13 digs, three aces and 21„2 blocks; Natalie Lefler had 13 digs, 28 assists and three kills; Jamie Marvin had 10 digs; and Sarah Holgen had eight kills, 12 digs and 11„2 blocks. The Grizzlies host a seven-team tournament Saturday at Ashland High. Marshfield, South Medford, Crater and Cascade Christian will be in one pool, while Ashland, Oregon City and Grants Pass will be in another. The first matches begin at 9 a.m. Boys Water Polo Corey Thomas had six goals and Troy Robinson and Andrew Cataldo added three apiece as the Ashland High boys water polo team defeated Medford, 12-5, in Southern Conference play at the Southern Oregon University pool Thursday. Goalie Cameron Mitzel had 13 blocks for the Grizzlies (3-2). For Medford (4-2), Josh Silver had three goals, while Thomas Gilder and Zach Haveman each added goals. Jason Flynn had five blocks in goal and Gilder added four. Girls Water Polo Kristin Frazier's five goals and eight steals helped Ashland snare an 11-2 Southern Conference victory over Medford Thursday at the SOU pool. Goalie Tryna Womack had 11 blocks, while Zaya McSky, Smith Freeman, Claire Dawson and Faith King also performed well for Ashland. The Grizzlies improved to 3-2 on the season. Elyse Cogburn and Stacy McIver each had a goal for Medford (1-5) and goalie Hannah Gilder had four blocks. College Volleyball Southern Oregon University volleyball player Richelle Millsap was named the Cascade Conference player of the week. for her efforts in a 3-2 victory over Oregon Tech on Sept. 29. Millsap, a 6-foot-1 junior middle blocker, earned her first CCC honors after tallying 19 kills and eight blocks, three of which were solo in Game 5. The Bend native has racked up 121 kills, 20 digs, 10 solo blocks and 26 block assists this season.
