Cirque du Soleil music director puts down roots in Ashland There’s a new artist in town, and he’s opening a new musical theater for youth. John Taylor is a former musical director, conductor and keyboardist for Cirque du Soleil “O” at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, and as a professional pianist, keyboardist and composer for over 25 years has worked with artists such as Jennifer Lopez, DeBarge, Rick Astley, and Expose. She longed to be a visual artist, but had accepted a scholarship to Harvard in part because it was too prestigious for the daughter of Jewish immigrants to decline.
