The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Ashland Civic Center Council Chambers, 1175 E. Main St. Mayor-elect John Morrison and new Councilors Jack Hardesty and Russ Silbiger will take the oath of office, along with Councilor Cate Hartzell and Ashland Parks and Recreation Commissioners JoAnne Eggers and Jim Lewis. The latter three won reelection to their seats. The mayor will then deliver the annual state of the city address. Area residents also are invited to offer input about priorities for the community as the new council prepares to set goals for the coming fiscal year. The council will discuss and set goals from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 14 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 15 in the Community Development building, 51 Winburn Way. In other business Tuesday night, the council is scheduled to hold a public hearing on a proposal to transfer $200,000 into the airport fund while the city awaits reimbursement from federally funded work, elect a council chair, appoint members to the Citizens' Budget Committee, consider an amendment to the tree ordinance and dedicate donated property for open space needs.
