The win extends the Raider win-streak to nine. The Raiders relied on Richelle Millsap (11 kills), Nicholette Le Bel (eight kills) and Jaclyn Hamilton-Smith (seven kills) to devour Cascade (1-9 CCC). Senior Jamie McCreary had 23 assists and senior Kristin Lilly tallied 11 digs. Danielle Selvidge paced Cascade with eight winners and Jennifer Braceros had 13 digs. League-leading Southern next meets Warner Pacific at 7 p.m. Saturday, the fourth stop on a three-week, five-game road trip. Women’s soccer Reigning Cascade Conference MVP Jennifer Hughes scored twice (including the game-winner) and assisted another in Concordia University’s 5-1 victory over SOU on Friday afternoon. The NAIA ninth-ranked and five-time defending league champion Cavaliers (11-3, 6-1 CC North) pelted Raider goalkeeper Melanie Hopkins win 28 shot attempts in beating Southern (5-7, 3-4 CC South) for the eighth consecutive encounter since 2001. Hughes, a junior forward, assisted CU’s first goal, a Justine Pronovost blast in the 15th minute, and she staked the squad to an insurmountable 2-0 edge 18 minutes later. Trailing 3-0, the Raiders got on the scoreboard shortly before halftime when freshman Dacarie Robertson followed up Hannah Smyth’s 20-yard indirect kick that struck the Cav crossbar. Concordia, which advanced to the 2004 national championship game, added two insurance goals in a defensive-oriented second half. SOU narrowly missed converting three open scoring looks: a Lisa Howard top-of-box blast over goal in the eighth minute; a Katy Valdez 1-on-1 opportunity in the 27th frame; and a Kara Bradach mid-box 1-on-1 opportunity in the 62nd minute. Smyth accounted for three of Southern’s seven shots. Hopkins amassed a career-high 12 saves in a valiant effort in the Raider goal. Freshman Justine Pronovost, who tallied a goal and an assist, led all players with six shots, and Hughes finished with five.
