--> --> March 12: AHS bowlers 10th at state Ashland Daily Tidings MEDFORD - The Ashland High girls bowling team placed 10th at the 16-team state meet Saturday and Sunday at Lava Lanes. The Grizzlies, coached by Joe Dauenhauer Jr., bowled 30 baker games Saturday and carried a 153 average, good enough for 11th place. They missed the top eight team cut-off by 167 pins. The top eight teams qualified for Sunday's championship bracket while the bottom eight bowled in the consolation bracket. Roseburg led all day Sunday and edged Hermiston for the state championship. The Grizzlies led throughout the 16 baker game consolation bracket with a 153 average but eventually fell by 30 pins to North Medford in the final two-game baker roll-off. Ashland was led by senior Bianca Montagnino, junior Angela Walsh and freshman Natalie Braham, each of whom qualified for the state all-star team tournament in Eugene, March 23-24. Other Grizzlies at state were junior Traci Brander and sophomores Rachael Prado, Jenny Schueller and Carly Winner. The state meet will be televised at 6:50 p.m., March 16 locally on Channel 31.
