"The race for trying to get those top-four spots, I think in looking at Jesuit, Crater, Central Catholic - those teams have probably set themselves apart a bit. After that, it's anybody. Ashland will battle with the likes of Hermiston, South Eugene and Lincoln to break into the trophy-garnering top-four. The Grizz advantage - having two runners capable of cruising to top-10 finishes. Seniors David Morgan and Andy Wright, who finished 2-3 at the SOC championships last Saturday behind Crater's Isaac Stoutenburgh, could contend with Stoutenburgh for the individual state title, which would bolster the AHS team score. "It'd be cool if we could go 1-2," Morgan said. "I think it's well within our grasp." Beyond Morgan and Wright, the Grizzlies have a host of runners who have state meet experience and have improved throughout the season. Cameron Barleen, Spencer Bonney and Justin Faudree should round out the Grizz scoring sect. Don't forget Nat A lone Grizz girls - junior Natalie Hemphill - will join the boys at state. Hemphill, who finished fourth at district, has fought sickness recently, but Julian still feels she has a good look at earning all-state honors. "She's a competitor and she wants to get to the BorderClash, which is top-23," Julian said. "She'll be ready to go. She's a fighter."
