This is the question America has grappled with for centuries. And it is the fuel that drives the quest to conquer foreign lands today. Let’s face it ... we are a warring nation. We always have been. From the outset, America waged war for her independence. Upon obtaining freedom from Britain, Americans then sought to expand their territory by claiming land that belonged to others. That ignited yet another war. The natives lost. Having obtained new land, Americans needed help in cultivating it. That led to an industry of enslavement and a constant war against humanity and conscience. State by state, each had to take a side as they entered the union, in what would eventually erupt into a battle over economics and morality ... cutting to the very soul of this nation. The nation emerged from fighting itself ... mortally wounded. The external wounds healed, but internally, America was still bleeding. The symptoms were everywhere. Her laws were subjugated, her elected positions hijacked by liars, thieves and thugs. She oppressed her own, pitting citizens against one another by race, class and gender. She denounced Christianity as the belief of kooks and declared herself a secular power. America’s supreme courts determined that science was supreme knowledge and the teaching of religious ideologies and morals were a menace in government schools. America declared war on God and turned her back on the beliefs of the majority of her citizenry. Racism, discrimination, oppression, and widespread violence shook the land. Families were torn apart as the nation battled against itself over who was the ultimate authority. A revolt was soon established against authority itself. Self-indulgent behavior led the way toward a precipice of problems, some of which were mitigated by murdering the innocent and corrupting the souls of our youth. America attempted to correct a corrupt path by legalizing and encouraging immoral choices. America had sealed her fate. Her death was imminent, yet despite her science, she denied any acknowledgement of her eventual demise. Instead, America found her vitality in war. She had chosen death as a friend and found comfort in delivering it to others. Soon she would enter into the world arena as a battle-worn gladiator ... her power growing with each triumph. After two major victories, America emerged on the world stage as a beacon of hope against injustice, a ray of light against the dark forces, and the promise of peace. But, instead of the light beckoning its followers to safety and security, it became a laser that skewered the hopeful with false promises and hypocrisy. The freedom in a land governed by laws became choked by the sheer volume of legislation that encroached daily upon the liberties of the people, like a serpent slithering silently around the neck of its intended prey. In the aftermath of two world wars, America again turned inward and attacked her own citizenry, using legal and political institutions to wage war upon those she once enslaved. But the people fought back against the injustice perpetrated by the beacon-turned-laser. The battle over the people’s civil rights spread until America found herself tired of the internal turmoil. It was time for a new external enemy. She found one in the guise of communism. Even as she was attacking her own citizenry, America focused the people’s attention outward and proclaimed that a new enemy would annihilate the people unless they placed their trust and support in the very government power with which they were also embattled. The citizenry put its faith in the very power that had continuously attacked and oppressed them, hoping that it would also save them from the greater evil lurking in the darkness ... thinking that in some way the tyranny of America's government would be harnessed by the people themselves. America's leaders led the people to think the entire world was plotting to kill them and the only road to peace and security was through complete faith and trust in America herself. The people believed the lie and gave their support to America's government in order to be saved from the new enemy. America then began her new crusade against the new enemy. The enemy could not be seen. It could not be felt. It could not even be defined. It just had a name ... communism. But the fear was real. In the name of defeating communism, America sent her citizens to kill and be killed in foreign lands and cities they had never heard of. Numerous towns in South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos became familiar to the citizens living in the land of the free and the brave. Even those who ancestors were enslaved in America and whose mothers and fathers had been mistreated in the Jim Crow era were willing to sacrifice their lives in war against the appointed enemy of America. Those who survived were shocked to come home to the same mistreatment and abuse. They remained naive and gullible, believing in the secular power that had denounced all moral codes and laws, yet somehow maintained the faith of the people ... even those who believed in moral law. America expanded her power around the globe, pointing in every direction and claiming the enemy was hiding behind every hut, threatening America’s freedom from deep within so-called “Third World” countries. Apparently, the poor despised America because of her riches and posed a threat in every corner of the world. Therefore, the poor were dangerous and only the wealthy could be trusted. America was obsessed with war. Within America herself, a “war on poverty” was declared, as well as a “war on drugs.” Meanwhile, America’s military was killing millions of the poor in Southeast Asia, Central America and the Middle East while the nation danced to the tune of millions of drugged out and tuned out youth. Still, America herself was dying. She looked for her lifeblood in the earth’s valuable resources. She found plenty of it in the desert oasis of the Middle East. As was her policy, what she wanted she claimed. Iran soon became America’s target. Once conquered, she was considered a friend ... as we drained her blood through the Straits of Hormuz. But the Iranian people, like America’s own citizenry, fought back again and again until they were successful in liberating their land of America’s dominance. But what the Iranians failed to realize is that America loved a good fight. War was declared. America pointed an accusing finger at Iran and found an ally in Iraq. The blood of more than one million Muslims was shed as America pitted Muslim against Muslim, a tactic with which she was well familiar at home with her own citizenry. In an effort to escalate the war and prolong it, she supported both sides, ensuring the defeat of both nations. Then the unexpected occurred ... peace was declared between the two countries. America, which proclaimed that peace through aggression was the road to victory in the infamous Cold War against communism, saw peace in the Middle East as a threat to the economic stability of the United States. Without having control over the life-giving oil, America’s economy would collapse into that of a Third World nation. War was declared. America sent more than a half-million of her finest sacrificial lambs to slaughter the new enemy. America herself need not be threatened anymore. If her economy was threatened from anywhere in the world, and her control over oil in someone else’s backyard was jeopardized, she would address the situation and “use any means necessary, including military force,” as one “peace-loving” American president declared to the world. Iraq became America’s new enemy. Today, America is still in Iraq, as it has been for more than 15 years, embroiled in battle every day. It is a place from which we cannot ever leave. It is in a region where America’s economic lifeblood exists. And we are prepared to remain there indefinitely; even if it means that the war over there will soon be fought here. After all, we are already a dying nation. In the aftermath of a 9/11 response by America's Muslim enemies, cries of fear echoed across the fruited plains. America's citizenry was oblivious to the many decades of American aggression and the ongoing war in which its government was involved in the Middle East. For America's citizens, 9/11 wasn't a wakeup call, but rather a panic attack that exacerbated the fear implanted by America's leaders. It provided America with new life and fueled her rage. It offered an opportunity for a new name for a new enemy ... terror. In fighting against terror, America could continue to fight forever. Her battle against the unseen and undefined enemy would span generations. And she would, with reckless abandon, rampage around the globe, kidnapping, imprisoning, torturing and murdering in a manner foreign to the beliefs of her citizenry. And she would do it on behalf of, and with the support of her citizens. In claiming to be a victim, America claimed to be justified in her killing. And any nation that dared to arm itself in defense would be circumvented via a policy of prevention. Through pre-emptive attacks, every death would be justified and every murder warranted. War. It is what America lives for. It is how she clings to life. And in fighting for life — even temporary moments of time — America is revitalized ... renewed through the blood of other nations. Without war, America cannot find peace, because her enemies lurk everywhere and must be destroyed. Even her own citizens are suspect and must be watched. Today, in the land of the free and home of the brave, Americans cower in fear, seeking shelter from our many enemies behind the skirt of government security. And in order to ensure our safety and freedom, we must continue to sacrifice our children in wars against those who our government claims are our enemies ... until every last enemy on the planet is destroyed.
