Ruth A. Lawrence Ruth A. Lawrence, 99, of Ashland, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Mountain View Retirement Residence. Mrs. Lawrence was born Sept. 5, 1903, in Oakley, Calif. to B.J. and Ethel Parsons. She lived her early childhood on a horse ranch in eastern Montana with her parents. On Nov. 16, 1941, she married Boyd Lawrence, who survives. They celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary in November, 2002. Mrs. Lawrence worked as a key punch and sorter machines operator on International Business Machines for Southern Pacific Railroad and Greyhound Bus Lines in San Francisco during her early adult life, and at Matson Navigation during W.W.II. She loved sewing, plants, and gardening. Survivors include her husband, Boyd Lawrence; two brothers, Kelly Parsons of Ashland, and Jim Parsons of Medford; a sister, Eileen Parsons Wright of Ashland; eight nieces and nephews, 11 great-nieces and nephews, and 9 great-great-nieces and nephews. A brother and a sister preceded her in death. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Alice Lucille Holliday Schiesel Alice Lucille Holliday Schiesel, 91, of Ashland, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at her home. Family graveside services and interment were held at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens in Klamath Falls on Saturday, June 28, 2003. Mrs. Schiesel was born Sept. 19, 1911 in San Diego, Calif., to Charles M. and Marion Mae (Thresher) Holliday. The family moved to Klamath County from Southern California when she was an infant. They were involved in the dairy business for many years. She was raised and educated in Klamath County and she married Leopold "Bud" Schiesel on July 14, 1928 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Klamath Falls. Mr. Schiesel worked for Weyerhauser Timber Company for almost 20 years. When Weyerhauser went on strike in 1950 the couple moved to Ashland where Mr. Schiesel remained in the lumber business until he retired in 1973. He preceded Mrs. Schiesel in death in 1991 after 64 years of marriage. Mrs. Schiesel remained at the family home until her death. She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed being a homemaker and a wife. Survivors include four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Schiesel was preceded in death by her husband, Leopold "Bud" Schiesel; and two daughters, Lucille Mae Kuhlwein and Barbara Lee Keffer. Arrangements are under the direction of Ward's Klamath Funeral Home, Klamath Falls.
